If you’re running high-load wafer production, you know the nightmare scenario. One single lamp bursts, and suddenly your entire batch is scrap. It’s not just about the heat stopping. When a quartz tube goes, it basically turns into a confetti cannon of glass shards and tungsten filaments right in the middle of your clean room. It’s a mess. And it’s expensive. That’s why we build our infrared heaters with a “worst-case scenario” mindset. Keeping the mess contained We use high-purity synthetic quartz because it can handle those brutal, rapid temperature swings without cracking. But we don’t just trust the glass. We wrap our lamps in custom quartz sleeves or protective shields. Think of it as a safety net. If a lamp pops, the shield catches the debris before it ever reaches your wafers. The best part? It doesn’t get in the way of the shortwave IR radiation, so you still get that lightning-fast heating you need. The electrical side of things Power spikes are lamp killers. Period. To stop this, we use precise voltage regulation so we aren’t stressing the filaments. We also lean on reinforced connectors—things like R7s or Sk15. Why? Because if the contact point is weak, you get arcing or overheating. That creates a hot spot at the end of the tube, and that’s almost always where the first crack starts. The balancing act Here’s the thing about high-density heating: it’s tempting to crank the wattage to the max to get more throughput. But there’s a trade-off. Pushing the wattage too hard puts a massive strain on the quartz. If you don’t have enough airflow around the lamp ends, you’re just shortening the life of the tube. You have to find that sweet spot between ramp-up speed and the actual limits of the material. We designed these units to be simple drop-in replacements for your standard clean room ovens.
